Women and the Web

Empowering women is key to addressing sustainability issues. Education, equality and the freedom to access family planning is essential in achieving such empowerment.

If you are a reading this, you obviously have access to the web, and as we have seen in recent years, access to the web is becoming an essential element in maintaining a free society. The Arab Spring, the Occupy Movement and the Women’s Rights movement in the subcontinent have all had their messages spread and strengthened via the web. The web is increasingly becoming the medium of choice for educational institutions to deliver their learning and increasing numbers of institutions are offering courses for free.

Clearly, access to the web for women can be key to their empowerment. An excellent info-graphic produced by Allison Morris provides an informative and concise overview of this issue. Please take the time to read it.
